Summary
Join Abacus as our Manager of Automation Engineering and lead our internal automation and development initiatives. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and delivering scalable automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency. You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and leverage Windows PowerShell, Microsoft Office 365, Graph API, and Azure. The focus is on creating scalable automation tools for internal teams. Responsibilities include product strategy, team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical guidance. You will need 5+ years in product management with at least 2 years leading technical teams and experience automating IT processes in a regulated environment.
Requirements
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and Office 365 / Azure development ecosystems
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, particularly Microsoft Graph API
- Comfortable working closely with engineering teams on system architecture and automation workflows
- Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management abilities
- Analytical mindset with a user-centric approach to automation and problem-solving
- 5+ years in product management, with at least 2 years leading technical or automation-focused teams
- Prior experience automating IT processes and workflows in a highly regulated environment (e.g., financial services)
- Exposure to ITSM platforms, ticketing systems, or RPA tools
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the product roadmap for internal automation initiatives, aligning with company goals and stakeholder needs
- Translate high-level business objectives into actionable automation strategies and product plans
- Conduct discovery sessions, process reviews, and ROI analyses to prioritize automation opportunities
- Lead and mentor a team of 5+ engineers and support staff focused on infrastructure and workflow automation
- Collaborate with technical leads to define project scope, priorities, and technical direction
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of automation projects using Agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices
- Serve as the primary liaison between business units and the automation team
- Gather requirements, understand operational pain points, and develop scalable automation workflows
- Communicate product vision, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels
- Write detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Oversee and contribute to design documentation and architectural discussions
- Guide technical decisions involving PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Graph API, Office 365, Azure, and RESTful integrations
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in systems administration or scripting a strong plus
- Proven experience in infrastructure automation and internal tooling within a technology-driven organization
- Experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or enterprise IT environment preferred
