Requirements

  • Managing software teams with a mix of senior and junior engineers on real-world products
  • Representing an engineering team in a company alongside non-engineering teams
  • Building great teams through hiring, training, development, and tough conversations
  • Proficiency in software development in a variety of languages, ideally some static/compiled (we use C++ and Rust) and dynamic (we script with Python)
  • Mathematical concepts such as geometry, linear algebra, graph theory, probability theory, and statistics

Responsibilities

  • Lead robot software hiring including the full loop from identifying gaps in our talent, generating job descriptions and interview panels, and guiding informed hiring decisions
  • Engage your team by maintaining regular meetings with each team member to ensure they have a reasonable workload and the support they need to be successful
  • Play a crucial role in growing and developing a high-performance software team with human-centric leadership that brings out the best in its members and enables individuals to achieve their professional goals
  • Encourage learning and enforcement of high-quality coding standards and software team practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wrote software that ran in real-time on mobile robots (e.g. perception, localization, motion planning/controls)
  • Worked with ROS or other middleware systems like DDS or Zenoh
  • Built software against relational databases like Postgres and SQLite
  • Developed metrics around software practices like the DORA system
