Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design with 2+ years managing or mentoring other designers
• A strong portfolio of shipped work across mobile and web platforms—TV experience is a big plus
• Experience working in and contributing to design systems, with a strong grasp of interaction and visual design principles
• Strategic thinker with the ability to articulate and execute on a design vision, connecting user needs with business goals
• A sharp eye for detail—you believe every pixel matters and know how small touches create a great product experience
• Comfortable working in a remote environment, communicating clearly and proactively across time zones
• Technically savvy and comfortable collaborating with engineers to bring your designs to life
• Passionate about accessible, inclusive design practices and always advocating for the end user
• Familiarity with design tooling, prototyping, and working with research and data to inform decisions

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small, talented team of designers—helping them level up their skills in visual design, interaction design, strategic thinking, and collaboration
• Drive the evolution of Plex’s design system and UI standards, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and brand-consistent experiences across platforms
• Influence product design efforts from early discovery to final delivery, establishing a clear design vision that aligns with product and business goals
• Design and ship experiences that feel polished, consistent, and thoughtful—sweating the details while keeping the bigger picture in focus
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and marketing to ensure a cohesive user journey across all surfaces—TV, mobile, and web
• Consult with internal and external teams on mobile design standards, ensuring all Plex experiences maintain quality and consistency regardless of where they originate
• Stay up-to-date on mobile trends, platform guidelines, and emerging interaction patterns—bringing that knowledge back to the team and applying it to our evolving design approach
• Champion user-first thinking, designing contextual, community-driven experiences with personalized insights, recommendations, and guidance
• Help foster a healthy async-first team culture while also leading dedicated design rituals like critiques, reviews, and planning
• Partner with our UX Research team to connect research insights to design work and product direction
