Summary
Join Thyme Care as the Palliative Care Medical Director and lead our clinical team in providing exceptional care to members with serious illnesses. You will conduct virtual palliative care appointments, oversee interdisciplinary case conferences, iterate and scale our serious illness program, and collaborate with external partners. This role requires at least 5 years of post-training clinical experience in palliative care, an unrestricted medical license, and strong communication and organizational skills. Requirements
- Have at least 5 years of post-training clinical experience with the majority in palliative care, preferably caring for oncology patients in the outpatient setting
- Have an unrestricted medical license and a willingness to obtain additional state licenses, as needed
- Be skilled in juggling multiple tasks and working under pressure without sacrificing organization in your communications and documentation
- Be winsome and articulate, but always start with listening and hear what may not be voiced
- Build rapport and great working relationships with members and colleagues
- Understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities are par for the course in a start-up environment
- Have experience with video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records or comfort using and learning new technology
- Know how to identify and prioritize a member's needs, and do what it takes to ensure that urgent and important needs are addressed immediately
Responsibilities
- See members for specialty palliative care outpatient appointments via video visits as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Provide clinical oversight to our growing team of Nurse Practitioners
- Be responsible for the oversight and direction of interdisciplinary case conferences for our members with advanced serious illnesses
- Provide clinical oversight to the case management team and direct clinical care as needed
- Iterate and scale our serious illness program to drive member-centered outcomes and success in our partnerships
- Ensure team training and enablement, updating processes, and monitoring operational and performance measures in close collaboration with cross-functional leaders
- Collaborate and communicate with external partners about our serious illness program
- Ensure that workflows are optimized for care coordination at contract launch
- Ensure that established processes are iterated in real-time to support contract success
- Ensure that we are prepared to rigorously report on our performance (e.g. Board Meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Joint Operating Committees)
