Summary

Join Synapticure as a Care Operations Referral Coordinator and work closely with care teams, patients, and families to ensure access to necessary services. You will review requests, process authorizations, generate orders, and assist with scheduling, including DME supplies and medications. This role requires strong communication skills to facilitate communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. You will also obtain prior authorizations, schedule appointments, and act as a liaison between various parties. Clinical knowledge and technical skills are essential for providing clinical support throughout the referral process. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in a relevant field and a passion for patient advocacy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience working as a patient navigator, prior authorization specialist, imaging coordinator, Medical Assistant or referral coordinator; preferred experience in a neurology, radiology, or infusion setting preferred
  • Effective communication skills with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, procedures, and medical terminology
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical and insurance information in an empathetic, patient-friendly manner
  • Passion for patient advocacy with a problem-solving mindset, focusing on overcoming challenges to accessing care
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, including neurologists, health systems, independent providers, and insurers

Responsibilities

  • The role will be responsible for timely accurate review of requests/orders, process prior authorizations with various payers, generate orders, and assist patients with scheduling
  • To include DME supplies and medications when applicable
  • Ensures that documentation is detailed and recorded in the patients medical record
  • The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to optimize patient care and ensure seamless transitions between healthcare services
  • Communicate referral status updates to patients, healthcare providers, and other involved parties
  • Obtain prior authorizations for services ordered such as CTs, MRIs, and other diagnostic imaging
  • Schedule appointments for patients once authorization for services is confirmed
  • Acts as liaison between patients, healthcare providers, infusion centers, pharmacy, and billing department to address issues
  • This position requires clinical knowledge in addition to technical skills to provide clinical support through the referral process
  • Coordinate scheduling of appointments as necessary
  • Request and obtain medical records from health plans and external providers and organizations per protocol
  • Fulfill other duties to support member care and operations as assigned
