Summary

Join Hawk-Eye as a Network Infrastructure Engineer in Basingstoke, UK, with remote work options. This full-time role, reporting to the Tech Ops Director, involves designing, deploying, and supporting low-latency, high-bandwidth AV-over-IP systems for live sports and events. You will collaborate with various teams, troubleshoot network issues, and advise on best practices. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience in real-time AV networking and a strong understanding of multicast networking and protocols. This high-impact role bridges network infrastructure and software development, requiring excellent communication and documentation skills.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years experience in IP or AV networking (field-based or support-focused)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent (e.g., JNCIA, CompTIA Network+)
  • Solid understanding of multicast networking and protocols: IGMPv2/v3, Dante, NDI, SDVoE, AES67
  • Comfortable working across time zones and third parties (ISPs, remote engineers, cloud providers)
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to translate complex technical ideas clearly
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and support time-synchronised AV-over-IP systems (e.g., Dante, AES67, PTP), ensuring accuracy and low-latency performance
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across switching, routing, firewalling, transport layers, and AV-specific protocols in both on-prem and hybrid deployments (e.g. AWS)
  • Advise on network best practices, including broadcast VLAN design, multicast routing, PTP timing domains, and transport-layer resilience
  • Collaborate with software teams to identify and resolve transport-layer issues in evolving products and features
  • Evaluate and recommend networking hardware suitable for real-time video and data workflows
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: IP addressing plans, rack layouts, provisioning templates, and site handovers
  • Act as a technical lead onsite, resolving issues under pressure during deployments or incident response
  • Coordinate with WAN/ISP partners to provision uplinks and monitor performance
  • Share knowledge internally through training, playbooks, and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls (especially VPN and routing)
  • Familiarity with NETGEAR Audio Visual/Broadcast Managed Switches and Engage Management Software
  • Understanding of SMPTE ST 2110 and IEEE 1588v2 PTP systems
  • Experience supporting live AV networks (e.g., OB trucks, flypacks, broadcast-grade systems)
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certifications
  • Willingness to travel (UK and internationally), particularly for deployments, validation, or escalation
  • Calm and effective in high-pressure environments where real-time performance and uptime are critical
  • Comfortable working in live sports and event-driven contexts
  • Proactive in sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, and improving documentation or tooling
