Summary

Join Grip's growing team as a Senior Nuke Compositing Artist! You'll collaborate with a talented team to create stunning visuals for advertising and product visualization. Your expertise in Nuke, image manipulation, and compositing will be crucial in integrating CG content into real-world environments. You'll work closely with VFX supervisors, 3D artists, and retouch experts, contributing to our proprietary compositing engine. This role requires a strong understanding of color theory, composition, and a focus on automation. Grip offers a remote-work environment and a diverse, global team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of extensive experience in compositing using Nuke/NukeX
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an advertising VFX pipeline
  • Experience working with 3D renders, a comprehensive understanding of CGI image production and demonstrated ability to seamlessly integrate live action and CG sources
  • Expertise in compositing with hands-on experience in designing and optimizing node-graphs
  • A solid understanding of composition, color theory, and image properties
  • Fluent in English

Responsibilities

  • Integrating 2D, 3D, and live-action elements
  • Collaborating with the VFX Supervisors to evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots
  • Communicating with Project Managers and VFX Supervisors regarding schedules and deadlines
  • Maintaining the overall look, color balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences to ensure uniformity in all finished work
  • Balancing the creative and technical aspects of each shot, with a good understanding of color space principles
  • In close collaboration with our retouch experts and 3D artists, you will work on our internal compositing engine, leveraging its features to automate typical retouch and image manipulation tasks
  • Guiding our team of retouchers in setting up typical node-based compositions to convert classical 2D/Photoshop-based retouching into a flexible, node-based approach
  • Additionally, you will work closely with our development team to innovate future features and apply them to solve typical composition challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • On-set VFX supervision experience
  • A strong focus on automation and task optimization, aiming to capture image manipulation effects in a repeatable, scene-independent graph setup
  • Flexibility and efficiency in managing timelines, with the ability to estimate time accurately and assess job scopes
  • Python, C++ programming skills and After Effects experience are a plus
