Summary
Join Hazel Health's Finance team as a Payroll Manager, responsible for processing and managing all aspects of payroll for multiple legal entities and over 500 employees across 30+ states. This remote role requires broad payroll experience in a scaling environment and reports to the Controller. You will ensure accurate payroll information, enhance processes for efficiency and compliance, manage timekeeping systems, and collaborate with other teams. Requirements
- 5+ years of broad payroll experience, including mandated reporting
- Bachelorβs degree or higher in business administration, finance or related field
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate payroll information and proactively communicate to 500+ full-time and 50+ part-time employees on payroll related items
- Continuously evaluate and enhance payroll processes and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, identifying opportunities for automation and workflow optimization to support scalable payroll operations
- Manage electronic timekeeping systems and review for payroll processing
- Bi-weekly payroll processing including ensuring that all applicable bonuses, commissions, and other special payroll related items are included in the proper pay period
- Work with federal, state and local agencies to set up and maintain tax and wage reporting accounts; ensure filings are accurate and timely; response to correspondence
- Respond to payroll audit requests
- Monitor payroll email box and respond to all inquiries within 48 hours of receipt
- Collaborate with the People and Finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist with HRIS management (we currently use Rippling HRIS)
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to payroll
- Complete ad hoc tasks and duties as requested

- Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional a plus
