- 5-10 years of payroll and HRIS management experience
- Strong client communication skills and a passion for helping small businesses
- Familiarity with platforms like Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Indeed, and BreezyHR
- HRIS knowledge and comfort working with toolkits, templates, or people operations frameworks
- Experience with recruiting coordination or HR project management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field (BS/MS/MBA preferred)
Responsibilities
- Oversee the payroll team and delegate client workstreams, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of payroll services
- Set up new clients and transition them onto supported payroll platforms (Gusto, ADP, etc.)
- Administer multi-frequency payroll (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly) across diverse industries
- Support client compliance, including employer registration, unemployment insurance, tax filing, and payroll audits
- Manage payroll-related benefits, pensions, reimbursements, and wage garnishments
- Respond to and resolve payroll tax notices and escalations
- Partner with the Client Services team to support payroll reconciliation and chart of accounts mapping
- Identify and implement process improvements in the payroll lifecycle
- Maintain strong client relationships while building and identifying new opportunities for department growth
- Deliver customized HRIS tools to clients, such as onboarding/offboarding templates, performance frameworks, engagement surveys, and manager toolkits
- Maintain and update a library of HR assets, ensuring compliance and relevance across industries
- Support internal recruiting by drafting job ads, managing pipelines, and coordinating interviews
- Partner with the Director of People & Culture on HR audits and people operations planning
- Collaborate cross-functionally to champion culture, engagement, and performance best practices
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to public accounting, cloud-based systems, e-commerce, SaaS, or professional services
