Summary

Join Axonius as a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across the Americas. You will manage the day-to-day payroll processing for approximately 400 US employees and 100 international PEOs. This role requires strong knowledge of US payroll regulations and experience with payroll systems like ADP Workforce Now. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, system-savvy, and a team player with 7-10 years of payroll experience, including 3+ years of management experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Business, Accounting, Finance or relevant experience
  • 7-10 years of payroll experience, including 3+ years of management experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. State and local tax regulations and compliance
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX/Internal Controls
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee compensation data
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to address payroll-related inquiries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to identify process challenges and drive innovative solutions
  • Strong project and process management skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee semi-monthly payroll for ~400 US employees across multiple states and ~100 International PEOs across 13 countries
  • Manage payroll transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance
  • Ensure stock activities are properly processed and reported timely (ISOs, NQs, RSUs, etc.)
  • Serve as the main contact for domestic and international payroll providers (e.g. ADP, Papaya, etc.)
  • Lead pre-close and month, quarter and year end close procedures for the payroll function
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end journal entries and year-end audits on an as-needed basis
  • Ensure proper tax registration in new states and collaborate with the tax team to resolve payroll tax discrepancies
  • Lead cross-functional projects to scale systems and improve payroll workflows
  • Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and minimize risk
  • Proactively identify, research, and resolve day-to-day payroll issues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners (HR Comp, HR Ops, HRBP, Benefits, Commission Ops, Legal, Equity, Accounting, Finance, etc.)
  • Provides excellent customer service to employees with payroll inquiries and issues
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on upstream system data to payroll system for accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with Sox/Internal controls and support quarterly audits
  • Review and audit quarterly and annual tax filings (e.g. W-2s, forms, Form 940, Form 941, etc.)
  • Assist with internal audits as needed (i.e. 401K, Workers Comp, etc.)
  • Performs other accounting/finance duties and projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience processing international payrolls
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills (e.g., knowledge of VLOOK-UP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, IF statements)
  • Experience with Papaya, Workday, and NetSuite
  • Strong systems knowledge, including the ability to quickly learn new systems/tools
  • Experience with T&E reimbursement policies and procedures
