Summary
Join Kidango, a leading early learning nonprofit, as a Pediatric Medical Consultant for our Head Start program. This remote, independent contractor position involves reviewing medical records of enrolled children, ensuring compliance with EPSDT guidelines. You will make professional determinations, provide consultation to the Health Services team, and assist in identifying health trends. The role requires a current, unrestricted medical license in California and a pediatric background. The average expected hours of work per month will range from 0-20 hours between the months of September 2025 through June 2026. Compensation is $160/hour.
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted medical license as an MD, DO, Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California
- Thorough understanding of the EPSDT schedule and preventive pediatric care standards
- Experience reviewing medical documentation for compliance or programmatic requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a timely, organized manner
- Previous experience working with families and children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to manage Zoom independently
- Ability to create invoices for billing
- Must live locally in the bay area
- Must pass a health screening and TB test
- Must pass background fingerprint clearance
- Valid Driver License
- Must be 18 years or older
- The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties

Responsibilities
- Review medical records including physical exams, immunizations, and health assessments for children enrolled in the Head Start program within the mandated timeline in the Head Start Performance Standards
- Make professional determinations based on childrenβs medical records and sign off on appropriate forms to indicate whether children are up to date on EPSDT-recommended screenings and immunizations
- Provide consultation to the Health Services team regarding EPSDT requirements and pediatric health best practices
- Assist in identifying health-related trends or concerns within the program and recommend appropriate follow-up or referrals
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to confidentiality protocols in accordance with HIPAA and program policies
