Summary
Join MedKoder, a growing remote company, as a Physician Coder specializing in Cardiology. This full-time position offers a flexible schedule and requires proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology. You will review and code cardiology cases, ensuring accurate reimbursement while meeting daily production and quality goals. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant certification (CPC or CCS-P), at least 3 years of experience in cardiology coding, and strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing policies. Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC-certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (CCS, CPC, etc.); active and in good standing
- A CPC or CCS-P certification is required
- Minimum of 3 years of physician coding experience (recent hands-on production) in E/M leveling, office procedures, and surgeries in the specialty of Cardiology, specifically for : Arteriovenous Fistulogram & Interventions
- AV Fistula creation
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Embolization of malformation
- Central Venous Catheter Placement (for ESRD) and exchanges
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm open repair
- Amputations
- Vascular open and percutaneous interventions & angiography
- Vascular Bypass procedures
- Must have proficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, CPT coding and guidelines by the AMA, ICD-10-CM coding and guidelines, modifiers, surgical techniques, and Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and electronic healthcare record information and billing systems
Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code profee Cardiology cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner
- Review and accurately code E/M visits and office procedures
- Able to work independently and research coding scenarios
- Coder is responsible for meeting our daily production goal and our quality goal of consistently averaging a 95% accuracy rate
- Attend conference calls as necessary to provide information and feedback
- Communicate with leadership on coding or documentation issues/trends
- Stay current on all coding guidelines (including specialty-specific guidelines) and maintain credentials as necessary
- Participate in coding department and education meetings
- Flexible to expand coding skill set into other Cardiology subspecialties, or other specialties altogether
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or BS degree preferred
- Experience in the following is a PLUS: CABG (coronary artery bypass graft)
- TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation)
- TMVR (transcatheter mitral valve repair)
- TTVI / TTVr (transcatheter tricuspid valve implantation/repair)
- PDA (patent ductus arteriosus)(i.e. CPTs 33820, 33840, 33852)
- TGV (transposition of the great vessels)
- TCAR (trans carotid artery revascularization)
- TAMBE (thoracoabdominal branch endoprosthesis)
- TADV (transcatheter arterialization of deep veins)
- TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram)
- TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement)
- EVAR (endovascular aneurysm repair)
- Pediatric Cardiology and congenital heart conditions
- Fetal Cardiology/NICU
- Heart Transplant Specialists
- Experience working with Google Suite is preferred but not required
- Experience working remotely is preferred but not required
- Auditing experience is a PLUS
- CPMA certification is a PLUS
- Billing (denials) experience is a PLUS
- Epic experience is a PLUS
