Summary
The job is for a remote full-time Physician Coder responsible for reviewing and accurately coding professional services. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in multi-specialty inpatient physician coding, E&M coding/auditing, internal/hospital medicine, and critical care. A high school diploma is required with an Associate's degree preferred.
Requirements
- A minimum of a high-school diploma, Associates Degree preferred
- Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (CPC, CCS etc.). Must have a CPC or CCS-P. (CPC-A is not accepted)
- Minimum 3 years' physician coding experience and auditing experience preferred
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding, coding bedside procedures, and the ability to code notes from scratch
- Experience coding multispecialties, but Psych, NICU, PICU, and Newborn Nursery are preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and healthcare information and billing systems
Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code all professional services including evaluation and management, diagnostics and procedures in compliance with applicable Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer guidelines to ensure accurate reimbursement
- Adhere to Medkoder internal coding policies and expectations set forth by department management
- Prioritize daily duties, multitask, communicate effectively and make decisions necessary to complete all assigned tasks and accomplish their goals

Experience working remotely is preferred but not required
