Summary

Join Smarsh's Fabric Engineering group as a Platform Engineer and contribute to building and maintaining our platform infrastructure. You will implement scalable and secure systems, write and review code, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in on-call rotations. This role requires strong cloud-native technology expertise, experience with containerization and orchestration, and proficiency in a programming language like Go, Python, or Java. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and optimize infrastructure for efficiency and scalability. Requirements

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, network security, and runtime environments
  • Solid knowledge of Unix or Linux systems and TCP/IP network fundamentals
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, with hands-on experience in Docker and Kubernetes for deploying, scaling, and managing applications efficiently
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or similar
  • Experience with Terraform for managing and provisioning infrastructure, with a strong focus on integrating infrastructure management and change through DevOps processes to enhance automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
  • Strong communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to driving team success

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure platform infrastructure to support high-demand, mission-critical applications
  • Write and review code, develop documentation, and debug the most challenging problems on some of the largest and most complex systems
  • Identify and differentiate between platform-related and application-specific issues, including CPU utilisation, out-of-memory (OOM) errors, and latency problems
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and be able to work with flexible hours based on the live events schedule
  • Optimize existing infrastructure to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability
