Summary
Join CALSTART, a mission-driven organization focused on transportation decarbonization, as a Policy Engagement Intern. Support the Policy Program Manager and contribute to strengthening CALSTARTβs national network of clean transportation stakeholders. This hands-on internship offers exposure to the current political climate and involves mapping and strengthening the network by engaging with companies, driving business engagement to advance policy efforts, facilitating conversations to capture key insights, and contributing to projects like industry briefings and presentations. The ideal candidate will have completed at least three years of college coursework, be pursuing a relevant degree, and possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The position offers a competitive hourly rate and is a remote role.
Requirements
- Completed at least three years of accredited college/university level coursework
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Communications Urban Studies, Transportation Planning, Sustainability Management, Business Administration or a related field
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities
- Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced remote work environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in internal and external teams with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment
Responsibilities
- Map and strengthen our network by engaging directly with companies, including fleets, manufacturers, utilities and technology providers
- Drive business engagement to further our policy efforts and achieve real wins that move the clean transportation industry forward
- Facilitate conversations with companies to capture key insights on their policy priorities, political challenges, and engagement needs
- Contribute to ongoing projects, including industry briefings, presentations and engagement summaries β and contribute to other policy-related initiatives as needed
- Other duties as assigned
