Summary

Join Western Digital's research team as a Postdoctoral researcher to explore novel magnetic devices for non-traditional computing architectures. You will be responsible for the electrical characterization and performance evaluation of these devices. This role involves establishing testing setups, defining procedures, writing scripts, collaborating with team members, designing experiments, conducting measurements, analyzing data, and drawing actionable conclusions. A PhD in a relevant field and 2+ years of professional experience are required, along with extensive programming and scripting experience and a publication history. Requirements

• Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, or related field and 2+ years professional experience
• Extensive programming and scripting experience
• Proven ability to initiate and complete scientific studies
• History of publications in peer reviewed journals
• Strong electrical measurement, data analysis, and device physics skills
• Good collaboration and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Work as a postdoc part of a small research team exploring novel magnetic device for non-traditional compute architectures, such as analog vector-matrix-multiplication and probabilistic computing
• Be responsible for the electrical characterization and performance evaluation of devices created in our research cleanroom for these applications
• Establish the testing set up, define testing procedures, & write test scripts
• Work closely with other team members to drive decisions on device material improvements and project directions
• Design experimental splits, carry out electrical measurements, analyze data, and determine actionable conclusions from the studies
