PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including configuration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery
• Hands-on experience with other SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and MariaDB/MySQL
• Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) for efficient database management
• Familiarity with Ops Manager automation and other database management tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience leading database solutions in collaborative, cross-functional teams
• Ability to work effectively across multiple client projects, managing priorities and adapting to each client’s unique needs
• Security clearance (Secret or Top Secret preferred)

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and manage PostgreSQL databases for high performance, scalability, and reliability
• Build and manage replication and sharding for PostgreSQL and other database platforms, including MongoDB
• Optimize indexes and queries to improve performance across multiple client environments
• Design and implement robust backup and recovery solutions
• Monitor database health, identifying and resolving issues related to query performance, replication lags, node failures, and system usage metrics
• Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and maintenance tasks with minimal downtime
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to understand requirements and provide technical expertise for database solutions
• Provide regular database health checks and insights to stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and timely reporting
