Summary

Join SingleStore's database engine team as a Principal Software Engineer and lead the design and development of key features. You will leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment, mentoring other engineers. This role involves solving complex problems, collaborating with various departments, and participating in customer POCs. The position requires extensive experience in system-level C/C++ development and database internals. Requirements

  • At least seven years of experience developing and debugging in system level C/C++, particularly on Linux
  • Background in database internals or building core components for large scale data processing systems (i.e. Hadoop, Spark) especially query execution/processing, and/or optimization
  • Experience with storage formats (i.e. Parquet, ORC, avro, iceberg), encodings and/or indexing structures
  • Passionate about building highly reliable system software
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a similar field

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical decisions and provide strong technical leadership for large, release-defining projects
  • Solve complex, mission critical problems with an approach that lasts
  • Be skilled at investigating difficult problems in parallel with other responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues and decisions and their impact on business value to audiences both inside and outside the company
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, coding standards, and empower engineers to achieve a higher level of performance
  • Actively participate in customer POCs to optimize customer experience and adoption
  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments such as Sales, Marketing, G&A

Preferred Qualifications
