Principal Engineer, Remote - United States

Summary

The job is for a Principal Engineer at Outrider, a private software company specializing in automating distribution yards with electric, self-driving trucks. The role involves leading the technical strategy for the Virtual Vehicle Interfaces and Automation team to accelerate development of autonomous vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master in Computer Science or other engineering discipline with sufficient software engineering experience
• 3-5 years experience leading efforts with simulation and other offline tools in the autonomous vehicle or other safety critical space
• Experience in using one or more autonomous vehicle simulation and/or synthetic data generation platforms such as Applied Intuition, Parallel Domains, or even a homegrown solution
• Experience working in a Linux environment
• Fluent in C++, Python, shell scripting
• Excellent communication skills for leadership and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Be the technical leader for the Virtual Vehicle Interfaces and Automation team
• Help to design/improve our key offline development/testing tools including simulation, synthetic data generation, and offline data-replay
• Lead cross-functional/cross-team efforts to accelerate the development of our autonomous vehicle
• Communicate with leadership
• Lead make/buy decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as code
• Experience with ROS1 and/or ROS2
• Experience with Docker and related containerization technologies
• Experience with one or more cloud providers, AWS/Azure/GCP
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
