Join Fivetran as a Principal Database Specialist and become the central figure for database expertise in our global presales organization. Partner with major prospective clients to design effective solutions for complex data replication challenges. Elevate the skills of our Sales and Sales Engineering teams by acting as a force multiplier. Directly influence our Product and Engineering leadership by advocating for customer needs and shaping Fivetran's database replication capabilities. This full-time, remote position (US-based) requires deep database mastery and architectural fluency. You will be a trusted advisor, presenting solutions and influencing key decisions.
Requirements
- Deep, Hands-On Database Mastery: Extensive experience as a senior Database Administrator (DBA), Database Architect, Backend Engineer, or high-level Consultant. You've not just used databases; you've built, managed, and scaled them in complex, mission-critical environments
- Architectural Fluency: Mastery of diverse database deployment models, from on-premise monoliths to cloud-native, distributed SaaS architectures. You understand the nuances of security, networking, and performance in each
- Replication Subject Matter Expert: Proven experience with native and third-party replication tools. You understand their strengths, weaknesses, and how to position Fivetran effectively against them
- Trusted Advisor Presence: A rare blend of profound technical depth and exceptional communication skills. You can command a room of CIOs, architects, and DBAs, building credibility and influencing key decisions
Responsibilities
- Serve as the ultimate technical authority on database replication during our most critical and complex sales cycles
- Architect and present elegant, robust solutions to solve the toughest data integration challenges for prospective customers
- Partner directly with Product and Engineering leadership to act as the voice of the customer, drive the product roadmap, and resolve critical technical escalations
- Develop and deliver masterclass-level training, documentation, and best practices to elevate the database expertise of our global Sales and Sales Engineering teams
- Spearhead internal specialist groups and drive strategy for key database-related initiatives across the company
