Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in privacy, information security, technology program management, compliance, or a related field
- Proven experience in managing, organizing, and coordinating technical privacy projects and process improvements
- Comprehensive understanding of Canadian privacy laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws) and other relevant data protection frameworks, as well as information and data governance best practices
- Solid understanding of security principles (e.g., encryption, access control, data anonymization, pseudonymization, masking) critical to implementing privacy-by-design strategies
- Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in the field of data privacy and protection
- Proficiency in privacy and data management platforms with the ability to implement, use, and maintain these tools effectively
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to educate, inspire, and drive support for the privacy function
Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop, operationalize, and audit privacy policies, procedures, and other controls to ensure compliance with Canadian regulatory requirements
- Collaborate across departments to ensure compliance while building and improving products and features
- Partner with various teams to prioritize and plan for improvements and remediation where opportunities exist
- Manage privacy projects with internal stakeholders, establish roadmaps, and communicate timelines and deliverables effectively
- Support product reviews in close collaboration with product managers
- Manage and operationalize privacy impact assessment (PIA) processes and associated regulatory documentation
- Assess vendor data privacy compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as AI and machine learning, and experience integrating requirements related to these technologies into an information/data governance program
- Experience working directly with engineering teams on technical implementations
- Relevant certifications such as CIPM, CIPP/C, or other recognized privacy certifications
