Summary

Blavity Inc. is looking for a Producer, Social Media to support daily content development and programming. The role involves end-to-end production of social media content, collaboration with various teams, and contributing to company strategy. This position is a remote (W2) contractor and requires 25% availability in the Pacific Time Zone and 75% in the Eastern Time Zone.

Requirements

• B.A. in Journalism or related field
• 2+ yrs of content creation production experience

Responsibilities

• Work closely with senior management on daily content, company strategy, operations, research, and analysis
• Own end-to-end production with strong knowledge of video editing for social platforms
• Pitch and produce social-first series that elevate and expand the brand on social media
• Identify news pegs and opportunities to repromote archival stories
• Build effective relationships with colleagues throughout the Blavity organization to support synergy across the company’s Owned & Operated brands
• Collaborate with the Audience Development and Data Analytics teams to maximize the reach of stories and posts and ensure the brand is meeting site-wide growth goals
• Support the team with planning and project management for content initiatives, including the annual AfroTech Conference and other forthcoming team tentpoles

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ yrs of content development for Gen-Z and Millennial demographics
• Strong knowledge of design elements and principles
