Requirements
- 5-8 years of legal experience, including at least 3+ years advising on FinTech product counseling, privacy compliance, and user-facing legal terms
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Strong expertise in U.S. privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, GLBA) and a pragmatic approach to compliance in a rapidly evolving tech landscape
- Proven ability to draft & maintain user-friendly legal terms that enhance trust and user experience
- A business-oriented mindset—you see legal as an enabler and can translate complex legal concepts into actionable strategies
- Exceptional communication skills—you can explain nuanced legal issues to non-legal stakeholders in a way that’s engaging, concise, and practical
- A bias for action & ownership—you love solving problems, taking initiative, and working collaboratively in an agile startup environment
Responsibilities
- Serve as the go-to legal advisor for product and engineering, ensuring our solutions balance innovation with compliance in a user-friendly way
- Draft, refine, and humanize our terms of service, privacy policies, and user agreements, making them clear, approachable, and confidence-inspiring
- Build scalable legal processes (templates, playbooks, self-serve tools) that empower teams to move fast and smart
- Lead our privacy initiatives, proactively addressing CCPA/CPRA, GLBA, and other regulatory frameworks while driving a privacy-first culture within the company
- Work across departments to identify opportunities where legal expertise can drive product innovation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with frontier technologies (AI, machine learning, large language models) and understanding their legal implications
