Product Counsel

Summary

Join GlossGenius as a Product Counsel and lead the product counsel and privacy functions within the Legal Department. As a founding member of the growing in-house Legal team, you will design and implement the Legal team’s engagement model with Product and Engineering teams. You will identify, analyze, and mitigate legal risk, playing a pivotal role in defining the long-term product success. You will advise Product and Engineering teams on legal and compliance requirements, partner with Product leadership to develop best-in-class legal and privacy review methods, and lead GlossGenius’ privacy compliance program. Remote work options are available in the greater San Francisco, Seattle, or Miami areas, or a hybrid model from NYC headquarters. Candidates in the NYC area are preferred.

Requirements

• JD and a member of a relevant U.S. state bar (California, Washington, Florida, New York) in good standing
• 5+ years relevant experience counseling technology product teams, with high-growth private company experience preferred
• Excellent analytical and legal skills, with track record of analyzing legal and regulatory requirements and effectively translating to technical requirements
• A team player: willingness to roll up your sleeves, with no task too big or too small across your projects
• Excellent prioritization and consensus building skills; ability to effectively manage and communicate regulatory risks in the context of business priorities
• High integrity and excellent judgement

Responsibilities

• Provide advice to the Product and Engineering teams on legal and compliance requirements that affect GlossGenius and its customers, including those related to data privacy, TCPA, HIPAA, artificial intelligence, and other consumer protection laws
• Partner with Product leadership to develop best-in-class methods for legal and privacy review of the product development process
• Lead GlossGenius’ privacy compliance program, working closely with the Security team on shared goals and objectives
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure compliance with relevant marketing and advertising regulations
• Draft, maintain and update internal policies and procedures, including building out contractual and procedural playbooks for privacy inquiries
• Prepare and deliver legal and compliance training for GlossGenius’ employees and executive leadership, as needed
• Effectively and cost-efficiently manage relationships with outside counsel
• Partner with corporate counsel and outside counsel on other projects as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

CIPP qualification and/or direct experience with HIPAA and payments regulation
