Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in engineering
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD is preferred but not required
• Experience in another co-op job or internship is preferred but not required
• Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing
• Basic knowledge of rapid prototyping methods
• Model shop experience preferred but not required
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Writes and prepares documents in a concise, logical, grammatically appropriate, and detailed format
• Willingness to take direction from others and to accept constructive feedback
• Excellent oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Investigate product design improvements to solve customer needs
• Develops design concepts for products, parts, and assemblies
• Develops product documentation that supports either prototype or production-quality parts
• Delivers products and documentation that meet company procedures
• Follows Quality Management Systems and assists with the creation of records
• Develops project documentation including CAD data, reports, minutes, and presentations
• Use of hand tools and 3D printers to build prototypes
• Participates in project research and brainstorming teams
• Objectively observes and understands user research inputs
• May participate in usability tests and observational research
• Performs experiments and testing supporting product development
• Helps maintain the laboratory and other facilities
