Summary
Join DEPT® as a UX & Product Strategy Director and lead the evolution of our client’s design practice through a strategic UX lens. You will build frameworks and methodologies that align content with performance objectives, grounding all creative work in data-informed strategies and measurable business outcomes. This role requires guiding multidisciplinary teams through complex UX challenges, mentoring design talent, and fostering a culture of strategic thinking and user advocacy. As a key client-facing thought leader, you will drive strategic conversations and business growth, collaborating with various teams to ensure integrated solutions. The position is remote but requires being within 50 miles of an office or remote hub. Relocation support is not offered.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive UX and design leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a director-level role
- Bachelor's degree in Design, User Experience, or related field
- Experience driving statistically significant results across commerce-oriented KPIs in direct-to-consumer or platform-led environments
- Deep fluency in human-centered design, testing frameworks (A/B, multivariate), UXR, behavioral analysis, and brand measurement methodologies
- Exceptional presentation and storytelling abilities
- Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools
- Track record of contributing to new business development
Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of our client’s design practice through a strategic UX lens
- Build frameworks and methodologies that align content with performance. objectives—balancing brand voice with commercial impact
- Ground all creative work in clear hypotheses, data-informed strategies, and measurable business outcomes
- Guide multidisciplinary teams through complex UX challenges while mentoring design talent and fostering a culture of strategic thinking and user advocacy
- Partner with the Executive Director as a key client-facing thought leader, driving strategic conversations and business growth
- Collaborate with strategy, technology, and account teams to ensure integrated solutions and facilitate workshops that align stakeholders around user-centered approaches
- Work in Google Suite, Figma, Miro, and various collaboration platforms (e.g. Slack, Teams, Webex, Zoom, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in commercial and performance-oriented content strategy, with a clear track record of improving business outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to balance commercial objectives with brand building, and can help clients understand how driving near-term performance can co-exist with building long-term value
- Someone who values curiosity, creativity, and the relevant application of those traits to make original work
- Strategic thinkers able to distill complicated things into simple ideas that inspire creative and design opportunities
- Fluent in culture—what’s happening in the world, why is it happening—and be capable of applying that understanding to the work
- Experts in human centered design, UX research methodologies, user journey mapping, and behavioral analysis
- Natural facilitators of collaboration who’s skilled at building strong, influential. relationships with clients at all levels and colleagues across all disciplines
