Summary
Join Blavity, Inc.'s Finance Team as a Project Accountant! You will be responsible for developing and tracking event budgets, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring cost control. This role requires expertise in event budgeting, purchase orders, cost tracking, and financial reporting. You will report directly to the VP of Finance. The position is fully remote, U.S.-based, and requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of experience. The salary range is $75,000 - $85,000.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting is required
- Required Experience: 3+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with experience in project accounting, event cost tracking, or similar roles
- Advanced proficiency in a mid-market event or project planning tool. For example, EventPro, Cvent, etc
- Advanced proficiency with MS-Office specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost tracking methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Pacific Time Zone
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed internal event budgets in collaboration with the Live Events team
- Manage and track the itemized spending for the events with a heavy focus on real-time reporting of any material variances to the Finance and Executive teams
- Collaborate with event coordinators, vendors, and project teams to ensure all expenses are accounted for and recorded in real-time. This includes sitting cross-functionally with the Live Events team and vendors with Blavityβs interests in mind
- Research, implement, and maintain a new cost tracking budgeting tool specific to the Events Business, ensuring cost estimates are realistic and aligned with the scope of each project
- Prepare monthly financial reports for each event, highlighting key financial metrics, budget performance, and variances
- Provide regular updates to project managers and senior leadership regarding the financial status of ongoing events
- Assist the Finance Team with various weekly, monthly and quarterly accounting tasks, including but not limited to, reconciliations, variance analysis & commentary and, financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with event management or large-scale project cost tracking is a plus
- Experience working in the Live Events industry is preferred
- A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture
