Summary
Join Deep Sky, a pioneering Direct Air Capture technology company, as a Project Finance Manager. You will play a key role in structuring, executing, and managing large-scale carbon removal infrastructure projects. Lead financial modeling, support capital raises (equity, debt, and public funding), and partner with engineering and project teams. Collaborate with external capital providers and public sector partners. Shape the financial structure of Canada's next-generation climate infrastructure. Report to the VP Finance and work closely with internal and external stakeholders. This role offers opportunities for hybrid work in various cities or fully remote work.
Requirements
- 5β8 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, clean energy, or structured finance
- Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel (including IRR, DSCR, cash flow analysis, and sensitivities)
- Proven experience in capital raising and structuring for a variety of large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, and the ability to present to executive stakeholders internally and externally
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams and present clearly to internal and external executive stakeholders
- Proven ability to produce high-quality, client-ready materials under tight deadlines
- Fluent in English; French proficiency is an asset
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project finance models for DAC, CO2 sequestration, renewable energy, and related infrastructure projects
- Perform scenario analysis, risk allocation reviews, and valuation support
- Support the structuring and negotiation of project-level financing: equity, debt, grants, guarantees, and blended finance
- Contribute to key transaction documentation and commercial structuring
- Support capital raise processes (project debt, tax equity, infrastructure funds)
- Partner with the public funding manager, VP Finance and Policy team to maximize access to government programs and incentives
- Prepare investor materials and presentations with internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with our engineering team to evaluate technology partners and project configurations, including with our partnersβ procurement teams to detail costs
- Break down financial models and technical terms into plain language that everyone on the team can work with
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, and financial KPIs in collaboration with Project and Engineering teams
- Contribute to procurement and contracting strategies with finance input on commercial terms
- Analyze financial performance of assets under development or operation
- Benchmark capital costs and structures across carbon removal, renewables, and infrastructure
- Simplify financial models and terms to explain and support team members
- Support the VP Finance and CEO with high-priority analyses, board materials, and ad hoc projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in engineering or technical training (e.g. B.Eng ., B.Sc . in a relevant field)
- Familiarity with public funding programs in Canada or North America (e.g. EDC, NRCan, CIB)
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, or similar)
- Experience in carbon markets, clean tech, or emerging energy transition infrastructure
