Summary

Join AC Disaster Consulting, a leading national consulting firm, as an EM Public Assistance Specialist. This temporary, full-time position involves providing technical assistance and expertise to clients during disaster recovery. You will analyze project applications, ensure timely task delivery, and utilize grant portal systems. The role requires extensive experience in FEMA public assistance and grant management, along with strong communication and time management skills. Travel is required, potentially up to 100%, to various locations across the country. While temporary positions are generally not benefits-eligible, some benefits may be provided as required by law. Requirements

  • Possess strong knowledge in categories A, B, and E
  • Have experience with at least two major Disaster Recovery efforts
  • Have experience working and supporting in an Emergency Operations Center
  • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possess customer service oriented Technical Skills
  • Have the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment and possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Have 1-7+ years of FEMA public assistance and grant experience (Junior-level: 1-3 years, Mid-level 3-5 years, Senior-level 5-7 years)
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of categories A, B, and E
  • Demonstrate experience in at least 2 major disaster recovery efforts
  • Demonstrate experience writing project worksheets (PWs)
  • Demonstrate experience using database software to work with project eligibility, scope of work, and estimating costs to repair or replace facility or structure to it's pre-disaster design
  • Have experience working in and supporting an Emergency Operations Center
  • Have experience with grants portal, EMMIE, or any state specific grants systems
  • Possess strong proficiency in MS Excel
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa
  • Pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Assistance and expertise help clients through the recovery process
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Public Assistance Policies, requirements, and evaluation protocols
  • Analyze and evaluate selected project applications, supporting documentation and inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable FEMA policies and procedures
  • Ensure quality, completeness, and on-time delivery of all assigned tasks
  • Utilize grant portal system to track and evaluate client information
  • Maintain and utilize knowledge of procurement and contracting requirements
  • Work through all phases of the grant lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management
  • Have experience conducting preliminary damage assessments (PDAs) in the field with Federal, State, and local officials
  • Have financial compliance experience
