The successful candidate will analyze, clean, organize, and provide recommendations on public health data for use in public health surveillance systems.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
- Experience in data related roles
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, or related field
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements advanced data management systems design, or redesign, to utilize new technology
- Gathers, analyzes, and cleanses public health and geospatial data sets
- Applies analytical, statistical, and programmatic approaches to data
- Develops, codes, tests, and maintains database programs
- Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy
- Researches and enable processing of structured and unstructured data to derive patterns, trends, and correlations and to enable entity extraction, disambiguation, common operating picture solutions, visualization, and other data-related support
- Implements improvements to data entity extraction, entity resolution, pattern extraction, link analysis, human and social-network links/connections, cloud online analytical processing, data frameworks, visualization support, and related algorithms
- Creates, modifies, and maintains software capabilities that extract insight from data, to include information, software applications, machine learning models, automation, and other software components
- Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data and recommends emerging techniques and technologies to enhance data use
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience with CDC environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes
- Knowledge of public health data and related privacy requirements (HIPPA, PII, etc.)
- Experience with cloud-hosted data tools and repositories
