Remote Public Health Data Scientist

Join DRT Strategies, a forward-thinking consulting firm, as a Public Health Data Scientist to work directly with public health data analysts and develop innovative data capture and analysis techniques. The successful candidate will analyze, clean, organize, and provide recommendations on public health data for use in public health surveillance systems.

Requirements

• Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
• Experience in data related roles
• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, or related field

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements advanced data management systems design, or redesign, to utilize new technology
• Gathers, analyzes, and cleanses public health and geospatial data sets
• Applies analytical, statistical, and programmatic approaches to data
• Develops, codes, tests, and maintains database programs
• Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy
• Researches and enable processing of structured and unstructured data to derive patterns, trends, and correlations and to enable entity extraction, disambiguation, common operating picture solutions, visualization, and other data-related support
• Implements improvements to data entity extraction, entity resolution, pattern extraction, link analysis, human and social-network links/connections, cloud online analytical processing, data frameworks, visualization support, and related algorithms
• Creates, modifies, and maintains software capabilities that extract insight from data, to include information, software applications, machine learning models, automation, and other software components
• Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data and recommends emerging techniques and technologies to enhance data use

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience with CDC environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes
• Knowledge of public health data and related privacy requirements (HIPPA, PII, etc.)
• Experience with cloud-hosted data tools and repositories
