Summary
At Instructure, as a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will maintain top-notch quality and performance for APIs, web apps, and interfaces by creating a detailed quality assurance plan. You will work in small cross-functional teams, overseeing test strategies, conducting manual and automated testing, identifying security vulnerabilities, and contributing to release management processes.
Requirements
- Experience in implementing and improving quality practices in a microservice, cloud architecture environment
- Proficient in software development and delivery practices with a deep grasp of software quality and CI/CD release management
- Demonstrated ability to drive a quality assurance program and manage change effectively
- Experience with security testing and understanding of security standards and challenges
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with a variety of testing tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter, K6, Postman)
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, including remote and geographically distributed members
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- A continuous learner, keeping up with new practices and technologies in quality assurance
- Experience in an Agile, Lean, DevOps organization and culture
Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation and execution of test strategies, plans, cases, and summary reports
- Lead manual acceptance API and UI/UX testing
- Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases, data validation, and automated scripts
- Execute and evaluate manual and automated test cases, documenting results and collaborating in an Agile environment with rapidly changing requirements
- Identify security vulnerabilities such as injection attacks, authentication bypasses, and conduct comprehensive security testing
- Serve as a Quality expert on your team assisting with troubleshooting and defect resolution
- Coordinate with your delivery team to explore automating manual testing and supporting user acceptance testing
- Operates within an environment utilizing tools such as Drone.io , AWS cloud technologies, GitHub, SumoLogic, Grafana, Selenium, and JMeter or K6 among others
- Contribute to release management processes, working closely with your team on deployment and version control tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Quality Assurance and Testing Certifications, such as ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) Certification, Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), or Certified Software Tester (CSTE)
