Requirements

  • Qualified Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Institute of Actuaries or career ASA with 7+ years of experience post ASA
  • Strong modeling and technical skills (Excel modeling skills required, AXIS/SQL/Python/Julia a plus)
  • Previous experience in pricing, corporate FP&A, Capital Management, Valuation, Financial Reporting, Reinsurance, and/or ALM. Experience with Bermuda’s regulatory framework for long-term insurance a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable, and a team player
  • Organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated to support delivering timely results and quality work products
  • Ability to prototype models for validation and ground-up development, learning real-time, anticipating problems or challenges, and proactively addressing them
  • A strong conceptual understanding and hand-on experience with different financial reporting bases (e.g. US/Canadian/Bermuda/International regimes)
  • Drive to solve problems in a disciplined and pragmatic way

Responsibilities

  • Pricing Analysis
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze investment, liability and, other data to support pricing decisions
  • Pricing Models: Run the pricing models to produce baseline pricing results and sensitivities specific to each transaction
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Incorporate data from investments, strategic finance, tax, and other teams to ensure the pricing analysis aligns with Fortitude's overall business goals
  • Stakeholder Communication: Assist in preparing the results of the pricing analyses
  • Standards and Documentation
  • Pricing Standards: Ensure pricing analyses comply with pricing standards
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of pricing models, methodologies, and assumptions
  • Professional Development
  • Continued Education: Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities, such as actuarial exams, to stay current with industry trends and advancements
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members within the department
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Model Improvement: Assist in the implementing and reviewing model changes to improve the pricing models
  • Innovative Solutions: Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance pricing models and methodologies
