Requirements
- Large-Scale System Experience: Must have experience designing and/or operating large-scale systems, understanding the realities and limitations of a production environment. The ability to make trade-off decisions, considering resourcing, timelines, and external constraints, is crucial
- Extensive Experience: A broad range of experience in operations and engineering, with a proven track record of handling complex technical challenges
- Strategic Thinker: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about long-term risks and solutions
- Leadership Abilities: Strong engineering leadership skills, with experience in guiding cross-functional teams through challenging situations
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
Responsibilities
- Production KPIs; You will work on ensuring all KPIs for our production stability and performance are trending in the right direction and kick off engineering efforts or help with the ones in flight to course correct metrics that are not trending in the right direction
- Strategic Problem Solving: Lead the charge in tackling exceptional challenges that elude standard resolution processes, using your expertise to devise innovative solutions
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with teams across the organization, from engineering to operations, to ensure a cohesive approach to solving critical issues
- Impact Management: Proactively identify potential situations that could negatively affect the business or customers and develop strategies to mitigate these risks before they escalate
- Customer Advocacy: Act as a champion for our customers, ensuring their needs are met even in the face of complex challenges
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing refinement of our engineering practices, processes and procedures, ensuring our teams are equipped to handle exceptional situations effectively
- Production Advocacy; Observe production incidents; Study post-mortems and ensure lessons we learn from incidents donβt go to waste and become part of improvements engineers adopt for increased reliability
