  • Regularly communicate project progress and technical challenges with the Product Owner, Scrum Master and other stakeholders
  • Work with multiple teams across the organization to integrate with other products and the common platform
  • Translate user stories and requirements into technical specifications

TEAM

The Toyota Woven City is a fully connected ecosystem powered by hydrogen fuel cells to be built at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. Envisioned as a ‘living laboratory’, the Woven City will serve as a home to full-time residents and researchers who will test and develop technologies such as robotics, personal mobility, smart homes and artificial intelligence in a real-world environment. Woven City will be ‘ever-evolving’, incorporating different types of the latest technologies. It is also ‘human-centric,’ and expected to keep people safe and comfortable.

SWAT Development is a team which develops software products that are essential to Woven City’s value as a test course, but that do not fit into the existing organizational domain and are difficult to address. Our team prioritizes and develops the urgent products in a fast cycle. Our team includes not only engineers but also product owners/managers, allowing us to develop products autonomously.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

You will report to the Manager of SWAT Development team of Integration Acceleration function in Woven City Management and the work style is hybrid (office and remote). Different types of applications, ranging from web applications including front-end to API-provided back-end-only services, are subject to development, and you will take a central role in software design and implementation within the scrum team. The software architecture includes not only the backend and frontend, but also the integration with the hardware, the common platform for the entire Woven City, and other products. You will lead the software engineers to ensure quick design and implementation as a scrum team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

・Develop the application architecture which includes integration with other products.

・Develop, code,  and debug core functionalities.

・Take initiative within scrum for testing, performance optimization, and technical documentation.

・Regularly communicate project progress and technical challenges with the Product Owner, Scrum Master and other stakeholders.

・Work with multiple teams across the organization to integrate with other products and the common platform.

・Translate user stories and requirements into technical specifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

・Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

・5+ years of experience in software development

・Experience with multiple programming languages, such as Go, Python and Dart

・Experience delivering cloud-based production-level web application software

・Proficiency in business-level English

NICE TO HAVES:

・Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

・Experience as a technical lead

・Experience in development of the following:

・Cloud-based services

・Data modeling, collection, and management

・IoT control and data collection

・Microservice and service-oriented architectures

・Docker and Kubernetes

・API design and OpenAPI standard

・UML or other formal design notations

・Agile software development

・Experience with AWS

・Experience in leading development of big enterprise systems

・Verbal and written Japanese
