Remote Manager, Environmental Compliance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related field preferred
• 5 or more years’ experience working in renewable energy project development and/or environmental compliance
• Strategic thinker, problem-solving skills, and strong analytical skills
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for individual work, team goals, and overall project success
• Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to distill complex problems into simple terms with recommendations and actions

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed scopes, timelines, and budgets for environmental assessments, permitting, and other regulatory compliance documentation
• Evaluate, select, contract, and manage external environmental consultants
• Oversee field studies such as aquatic resource delineations, protected species assessments, Phase I & II ESAs, and cultural resource reviews
• Assess environmental study reports for quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
• Identify environmental risks and impacts, and develop effective strategies for avoidance, minimization, and mitigation
• Collaborate with community officials, resource agencies, and NGOs to address concerns and ensure appropriate conservation measures are implemented as a result of these engagements
• Coordinate with resource agencies to help facilitate timely issuance of required environmental permits and/or approvals
• Review and enhance project screening criteria to account for important environmental considerations
