Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working with data, especially experience or interest in federal agency datasets and data ecosystems
- An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field or equivalent technical training
- Experience as a mentor or thought partner to your teammates, and leadership competencies in the following: empathy, active listening, coaching/feedback, integrity, decisiveness, and problem solving
- The ability to apply a variety of skills: whether thinking strategically about how to develop an enduring process, digging deep into a complex data analysis, or putting yourself in the shoes of an end-user to answer a question they didnβt know they had - youβre comfortable thinking from a number of different perspectives
- The ability to lead and do: understanding team needs and how to help them grow and be effective, balancing delegation and individual contribution, and leading day-to-day aspects of the work while understanding the longer-term vision and goals
- Experienced deriving value from imperfect data, and going from insight to impact by using the results of your analysis to tell a story through visualization, presentation, and writing
- Advanced proficiency in one or more statistical programming languages (i.e. SQL, Python) to systematically solve problems, and interest in learning new tools and techniques
- Experience with modern analytical tech stacks: cloud-based warehouses, orchestration, and transformation tools (e.g. Snowflake, Airflow, dbt)
- The ability to communicate with partner stakeholders, anticipate their questions, interface with technical and non-technical audiences, and maintain objectivity in how you approach their unique challenges
- Passion in applying your skills to our social mission to problem-solve and collaborate within a cross-functional, client-facing team environment
- The ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust background investigation that our government clients require; this includes a requirement that the individual has U.S. Citizenship, or U.S. residency for three of the past five years (minimum 36 of the past 60 months)
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic leader on the use of data analytics to distill valuable insights and trends, drive actionable analyses and recommendations, improve data quality and governance, and implement systematic analytical methods across complex systems and technical implementations
- Effectively manage both your work and that of your teams, including project planning, task delegation, and timeline tracking
- Supervise staff in their analytical work, as well as coach team members and develop their professional and technical skills
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including engineers, product managers, data scientists, and non-technical subject matter experts to troubleshoot problems and proactively create solutions
- Develop whitepapers, data visualizations, and other client communications to guide organizational decision making at key moments
- Define program-wide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and approaches for continually measuring them
- Identify opportunities for programs to increase equity and effectively communicate with diverse audiences
- Work both independently and as part of a team to deliver accurate analytical products including regular and ad hoc reports, visualizations, data transformations for pipelines, iterative Python and SQL code, high quality documentation, etc. on short deadlines
- Contribute on occasion to solutioning and proposal writing in response to government procurement requests
- Such other reasonable tasks as may be assigned by management
