Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in civil engineering or planning or public administration, with a focus in municipal projects (preferred)
  • Strong project management skills and experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Be the point of contact for civil engineering projects with municipal settings, including road infrastructure, water supply and distribution, wastewater management, and stormwater drainage
  • Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and managing client expectations
  • Develop and oversee project budgets, understand client expectations, and coordinate with consultant project managers so that work is delivered within scope, schedule, and budget constraints and exceeds client expectations
  • Implement organizational measures to manage numerous project activities, document communication, and coordinate across many departments, both in Public Works and engineering
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including planners, surveyors, and architects to ensure project success
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges and issues that may arise during the project lifecycle
  • Think big picture and long term for the future needs of communities

Job Summary

JEO is seeking a Municipal Engineer with a passion for helping cities with their engineering needs. This individual will enjoy collaborating remotely with the broad spectrum of JEO’s technical experts in the municipal sector. The engineer is comfortable with being the face for JEO with clients; flexible scheduling and the ability to speak at City Councils and citizens of the communities we serve is required. The highest integrity and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations is necessary. This individual should enjoy serving the public as a consulting city engineer and working for long-term, relational win-win solutions. Expertise in the entire realm of municipal engineering is not required, but the ability to understand problems, be an intermediary, and aide technical experts in their communication with the client is a must. The Municipal Engineer will work in close collaboration with our team of skilled engineers, planners, and other professionals to deliver projects that meet or exceed our clients’ expectations. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, project management expertise, and a passion for building sustainable and resilient cities.
