Remote Product Counsel

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the bar in at least one state
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with significant experience in technology law, either in-house or at a law firm
• Strong understanding of intellectual property law, data privacy, cybersecurity, and software licensing
• Experience negotiating complex technology contracts and agreements
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on all technology-related matters, including software development, contracts, cloud computing, intellectual property, data privacy, and open-source licensing
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of technology-related agreements, including SaaS, vendor, and partnership agreements, ensuring they align with company policies and objectives
• Advise on the protection and enforcement of the company’s intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
• Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and cybersecurity regulations, working closely with the IT, Security, Privacy and compliance teams to mitigate risks
• Stay current with relevant technology laws and regulations, providing guidance to ensure the company’s operations and products comply with applicable legal standards
• Identify potential legal risks related to technology projects and initiatives, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively
• Work closely with various departments, including IT, security, product development, engineering, sales, and business development, to provide legal support on technology-driven projects
• Assist in the development, implementation and updating of company policies related to technology, data privacy, artificial intelligence, open-source licensing, and intellectual property
• Provide training to employees on relevant legal topics, including technology contracts, intellectual property protection, and data privacy
