Job description

About Movement Labs

This is a contingency role in the event that Trump wins the presidential election. Movement Labs is dedicated to stopping the far right and saving democracy. We bring new thinking to the most challenging problems in the political ecosystem and rigorously test our ideas. We’re bringing in a senior leadership team to lead our work to stop Trumpism and defeat fascism.

About the Position

The federal civil service is the bedrock of American government. It provides core services that allow families to thrive and the nation to function. If Trump is elected, these civil servants will also be pressured to apply retribution to pro-democracy forces - and many will resign rather than resisting that pressure.

Movement Labs seeks a senior leader to build a program organizing civil servants within the relevant federal bureaucracies to prevent that retribution from occurring. In the immediate aftermath of a Trump victory, we imagine the work will be to build a network of reputable civil servants within crucial departments that are committed to not resigning in advance of Schedule F, and who can support each other discreetly in upholding democracy.

The ideal candidate is well-networked within the DOJ, FBI, IRS, in that priority order, especially with senior career bureaucrats, and is ideally connected to Partnership for Public Service or other general civil service associations and networks. They are experienced in program development, organizing and educating others, and building partnerships. They also have management experience working with direct reports as well as managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Power Mapping: Utilize power mapping techniques to identify and engage key internal and external stakeholders within each agency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress, measure success, and provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding campaign developments and outcomes.
  • Resource Management: Oversee budget and resource allocation for initiatives.
