Join Qonto as their Risk Director and play a pivotal role in their transformation into a fully licensed bank. Lead a team of 15+ risk managers, overseeing the identification, measurement, reporting, and steering of all risks (financial, operational, compliance). Develop and implement credit, IR, and liquidity risk models and in-house tooling. Drive the development and implementation of 360Β° risk management frameworks, focusing on financial risk (credit and ALM), operational risk, and product risk support. Lead the risk strategy for managing billions in financial assets, ensuring compliance. Build and oversee credit risk management systems and policies. Collaborate with product development teams to ensure comprehensive risk assessments. Guide and develop specialized teams, fostering a strong risk-aware culture. Partner with the Executive Committee and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- Banking Risk Expertise: 15-20 years of experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry, including 10+ years in financial risk management, with significant exposure to both Credit Risk and Asset Liability Management (ALM) in a banking environment
- Strategic Leadership: Proven track record as a Risk Director with experience in building risk frameworks during significant organisational transformations
- Credit Risk Management: Deep expertise in credit risk modelling and management, with experience in implementing credit frameworks in regulated financial institutions
- Financial Markets Understanding: Strong grasp of ALM principles and financial markets, demonstrated through experience managing substantial financial assets in a regulated environment
- Change Management: Demonstrated ability to lead risk transformation projects, particularly in organisations transitioning to new regulatory frameworks or licenses
Responsibilities
- Strategic Risk Leadership: Drive the development and implementation of 360Β° risk management frameworks focusing on
- Financial Risk (Credit and ALM) as we transition to a banking license
- Operational Risk by enhancing Fraud Prevention, Incident Management, and Third-Party Risk Management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions and ensure robust operational resilience
- Financial Asset Oversight: Lead the risk strategy for managing billions in financial assets, ensuring compliance with defined risk policies while enabling sustainable business growth
- Credit Framework Development: Build and oversee credit risk management systems and policies crucial for our upcoming banking license, establishing foundations for Qonto's credit operations
- Operational Risk Management : Design and implement a proactive operational risk management strategy, including enhancing fraud & scam detection capabilities to safeguard Qontoβs clients and reputation
- Product Risk Support: Collaborate with product development teams to support the release of new products by ensuring comprehensive risk assessments are conducted. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks, ensuring product launches are secure and compliant with regulatory standards
- Team Leadership: Guide and develop specialised teams across Financial Risk, Quantitative Risk, Ops Risk & Risk Engineering, fostering a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organisation
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with the Executive Committee to integrate risk considerations into strategic decision-making, while maintaining strong relationships with regulatory bodies during our banking license acquisition
