Summary

Join Lochmueller Group's dynamic Roadway/Highway Design team as an experienced Project Engineer. You will contribute to the planning and execution of roadway design projects for local agencies and DOTs, preparing proposals, budgets, and schedules. Conduct engineering analysis and design, prepare project documentation, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. This remote position, based anywhere in South Carolina, offers significant growth opportunities within a great workplace culture. The role involves applying engineering techniques and coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Depending on experience, project management responsibilities may be included.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar engineering field
  • 5+ years of relevant roadway/highway design engineering experience – open to candidates with more experience
  • Experience working on SCDOT roadway design projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a remote work environment

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a project engineer in the planning and execution of local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects
  • Assisting in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and schedules
  • Conducting engineering analysis and design
  • Preparing and reviewing project documentation, reports, and specifications
  • Applying engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met
  • Collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • May assign work to junior engineers or other staff
  • Depending on the experience level of the selected candidate, this role may be involved in other various responsibilities, such as project management
