Summary

Join Environment Bank's Emerging Nature Markets team as a Science and Verification Lead. This strategic role focuses on maintaining credible monitoring, reporting, and verification frameworks for nature investment products. You will lead the development of monitoring and reporting strategies, shape the approach to third-party verification, and ensure alignment with emerging standards. A key responsibility is evaluating new tools and methods in environmental monitoring and modeling, prioritizing relevant advancements. The role also involves measuring and reporting on ecosystem services beyond biodiversity, such as carbon, water, and social value. This position requires collaboration with various teams and external stakeholders. It's a technical leadership role, not a fieldwork position.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of key nature reporting and verification frameworks such as TNFD, SBTN and CSRD
  • Familiarity with current and emerging approaches to ecological and ecosystem service monitoring
  • You will be comfortable engaging with datasets, tools and monitoring protocols. You do not need to be a coder or field ecologist, but you should be confident reading a new methodology or model and understanding what it means
  • You can explain complex technical topics clearly to non-specialist colleagues such as the Emerging Markets Head of Corporate Engagement. You are confident making recommendations and helping others act in the face of uncertainty

  • Track developments in environmental monitoring and modelling, from academic research to tech startup tools. Make sense of this fast-moving space and help the team understand what matters. Prioritise where we should act, what to explore, and what to ignore
  • Work closely with the product team to ensure all new offers are underpinned by strong technical foundations. Translate ecological data and insights into usable reporting for businesses
  • Support the ecological delivery lead to ensure fieldwork and data collection meet necessary standards. Work with sales to support credible technical claims and respond to buyer requirements
