Summary
Join Magic Media, a global media and entertainment group, as a Senior 3D Creature Artist. You will sculpt and model high-resolution creatures in ZBrush, create game-ready models, and texture assets using PBR workflow in Substance Painter. Collaboration with other artists and implementation in game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity are key responsibilities. You will iterate on designs based on feedback and occasionally create hard-surface elements or clothing. Requirements
- Strong proficiency in ZBrush
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent sculpting skills and a deep understanding of organic forms, especially for creature creation
- Experience in either Maya or Blender
- Working knowledge of at least one of these industry-standard 3D modeling and animation tools is required
- Ability to handle full character/creature production workflow
- Including retopology, UV unwrapping, baking, and preparing assets for texturing and engine integration
- Solid understanding of PBR workflow and proficiency in Substance Painter
- The candidate should be able to create high-quality, game-ready textures with attention to detail and material accuracy
- Portfolio showcasing creature work
- We’re specifically looking for examples of creatures or stylized characters that highlight sculpting, texturing, and creative design abilities
- Good knowledge of anatomy, especially animal anatomy
- Ability to analyze and creatively reinterpret anatomical structures is essential when working on non-realistic or hybrid creature designs
- Experience working with real-time game engines
- Familiarity with importing and optimizing assets for engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity is required
- Proficient level in English
- You must be comfortable with communicating and collaborating in English, both spoken and written
Responsibilities
- Sculpting and modeling high-resolution creatures in ZBrush, with a strong focus on anatomy, form, and expression
- Creating clean game-ready models through retopology and UV unwrapping
- Texturing assets using PBR workflow in Substance Painter, maintaining visual consistency and material realism
- Collaborating with concept artists and art directors to bring creature designs to life while keeping artistic direction and gameplay needs in mind
- Implementing and testing assets in game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, ensuring optimal performance and visual fidelity
- Adjusting and iterating based on feedback, both artistic and technical, throughout the production pipeline
- Occasionally creating hard-surface elements or clothing for your creatures if the design requires it
Preferred Qualifications
- Hard surface modeling skills (ability to model armor, gear, or mechanical elements if a creature design includes such components)
- Experience with Marvelous Designer (useful for projects where cloth simulation or fabric elements are part of the creature's design)
- Rigging skills (a big plus if you can set up basic or advanced rigs for animation purposes)
