Requirements
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the consumer packaged goods (CPG) or public company sectors
- Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance requirements
- Proven experience with financial statement preparation, SEC filings, and technical accounting issues
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Netsuite is a plus)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, auditors, and other business units
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required (active license)
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting
- Collaborate with an external consultant as it relates to the preparation of SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other required disclosures. Ensure compliance with all public company reporting requirements
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards (US GAAP) and ensure that all accounting policies are in line with industry best practices. Address complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, inventory valuation and stock-based compensation and partner with the controller and external consultants on these issues
- Lead and mentor a team of junior accounting professionals, providing guidance on day-to-day accounting activities and professional development. Foster a culture of collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements. Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency
- Manage all aspects of debt compliance in collaboration with the controller, FP&A and the lender
- Coordinate the external audit process, ensuring timely preparation of audit schedules, responses to auditor inquiries, and resolution of any issues that arise
- Work closely with other departments, including tax, treasury, operations, and Finance systems, to ensure alignment on financial goals and objectives. Provide accounting expertise to business partners for decision-making support
- Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making and business planning
