Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting
• Five+ years of experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory management
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
• Experience in both public and private corporate accounting environments
• Experience with government and/or philanthropic grant accounting and reporting. At least 1 year is preferred
• Experience implementing technology solutions to enhance systems and processes

Responsibilities

• Process monthly, quarterly and year end closings
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow and other reports
• Ensure GAAP compliance through account controls and reconciliations on a periodic basis
• Establish and maintain accounting policies
• Prepare for and manage audits
• Create, manage and enhance internal controls
• Process payroll and related journal entries
• Support reporting for investors and government and philanthropic grant providers
• Supervise billing, receivables, payables, cash receipts, cash disbursements, and general ledger functions
• Document and maintain financial processes and controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Work with service providers to prepare annual tax filings
• Assist with annual budgeting, monthly variance reporting, and aspects of forecasting, as needed
• Hire and manage accounting clerical staff
