Senior Actuary

Summary

Join Lemonade as a Senior Actuary and revolutionize car insurance! You will manage rate levels, build advanced pricing models and tools, and apply actuarial discipline across all company aspects. Leveraging data science and competitive data, you'll optimize customer experience and ensure fair pricing. Key responsibilities include leading predictive modeling projects, crafting rate filing support, recommending pricing actions, and developing pricing strategies for product expansions. You'll also build a competitive landscape knowledge base and design internal pricing software. This role requires extensive P&C personal lines experience, an ACAS or higher designation, and strong data science skills.

Requirements

• 7+ years of P&C personal lines experience
• Attained ACAS or greater
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in data science programming languages such as Python required, and database query tools such as SQL
• Familiarity with predictive modeling concepts, including supervised machine learning approaches such as GLMs, decision trees, gradient boosting machines, and random forests
• Ability to work in a remote environment

Responsibilities

• Be an owner and expert on our car insurance state rating plans and rate indications
• Lead the development and integration of predictive modeling projects while working closely with the Data Science team
• Craft rate filing support for new machine learning models
• Recommend pricing and underwriting actions based on ongoing monitoring of results
• Build a knowledge base of competitor rating strategies and the overall competitive landscape
• Develop the rates and pricing strategy for product expansions in new states
• Lead in the design and development of internal pricing software for advanced analytics to support real-time decision making and scalable growth
