Senior Android Engineer

Summary

Join RapidDeploy as a Senior Android Engineer and contribute to the development of high-quality, robust solutions for our emergency response platform. You will collaborate with experienced engineers in an Agile environment, leveraging your expertise in Android development and software engineering principles. This role requires proficiency in Kotlin, a strong understanding of software development methodologies, and experience with various technologies. Successful candidates will be results-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a passion for continuous learning. The position is open only to South African citizens residing in South Africa.

Requirements

• Possess a BSc in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience
• Have a minimum of 5 years of Android development experience
• Have practical experience with Jetpack Compose
• Possess practical experience of software engineering methodologies
• Be experienced in writing testable code
• Demonstrate an understanding of Material Design Principles and interface guidelines
• Have participated in full SDLCs with demonstrated knowledge of analysis and design for software solutions
• Have experience in setting up and maintaining all aspects of the Google Play Console
• Be a South African citizen residing in South Africa

Responsibilities

• Proficiently work in Kotlin, demonstrating a good knowledge of its ecosystem
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the internet, networking, and common protocols
• Showcase good knowledge of multi-threading, data structures, OOP, Design Patterns, and Web services
• Create and possess practical experience with testing, automation frameworks, and techniques
• Maintain a good awareness of application performance impacts and security risks
• Follow and improve coding standards
• Identify problem areas, bad practices, impractical solutions, and raise issues with the team early
• Create and possess practical experience with testing, CI/CD frameworks, and techniques
• Work in tandem with experienced engineers to deliver high-quality and robust solutions in an Agile environment
