Senior Art Director

Summary

Join Canva's International Marketing Group as a Senior Art Director and collaborate with the Creative Director to enhance Canva's visual presence in Mexico. This 4-month contract role allows for remote work from Mexico with flexible hours. You will lead visual direction for brand, product, and performance campaigns, design storyboards, pitch concepts to senior leaders, and collaborate with vendors. The ideal candidate possesses proven design experience in advertising and branding, strong motion design skills, and native-level Spanish and strong English skills. This role requires expertise in digital and product design using Figma. Evening meetings will be required to accommodate global teams.

Requirements

• You have proven design experience in advertising and branding
• You have strong design skills and a solid understanding of motion design, with experience leading projects from start to finish
• You have an understanding that spans digital design, product design, and Figma is key to ensuring that your vision is fully realised
• You’re excited to jump on Canva to design
• You have Native-level Spanish and strong English skills (we’re a global team, so English is part of our day-to-day)

Responsibilities

• Lead the visual direction for brand, product, and performance campaigns, keeping every project fresh, consistent, and innovative
• Designing simple, powerful storyboards for ads and hype reels that bring Canva to life
• Confidently pitch concepts and present work to senior creative leaders, product marketing managers, and stakeholders, clearly articulating the creative vision and strategic approach
• Writing with the same creativity and clarity you bring to your designs
• Being passionate about exceptional art direction and design that’s not just beautiful but also thoughtful, meaningful, and, when it needs to be, provocative
• Collaborating with external vendors, providing clear art direction guidance and feedback to help elevate their work
• Working closely with the Creative Director to ensure schedules are accurate and realistic and that deadlines are met

Bonus points if you’ve art-directed films or photoshoots before

Benefits

This is a remote role with flexible working hours, but you’ll need to balance your schedule to accommodate occasional global team meetings in the evening (6-9 PM)
