Senior Backend Python/Django Engineer

Summary

Join Holycode's Splint Invest team as a Senior Backend (Python/Django) Engineer. You will build and scale the backend of our FinTech mobile application, own the platform's lifecycle, drive architecture decisions, collaborate with DevOps, lead integrations with external services, and mentor other engineers. This role requires 6+ years of backend development experience with Python/Django, a solid grasp of DevOps, and strong understanding of databases and security. You'll work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team, ideally within a startup environment. Requirements

• 6+ years of backend development experience, including deep knowledge of Python/Django
• Solid grasp of DevOps processes – you’re comfortable owning infrastructure and deployments
• Strong understanding of databases (PostgreSQL), REST APIs, system design, and security best practices
• Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams, ideally in a startup or scale-up
• Proactive, structured, and self-managed work style – you're not waiting for someone to hand you a Jira ticket
• Fluent in English; excellent communicator across both technical and non-technical teams

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the backend of our FinTech mobile application using Python/Django
• Own and run the platform: from development and deployment to monitoring and incident management
• Drive architecture decisions and lead solution discovery across the engineering team
• Work closely with DevOps to handle releases, migrations, infrastructure scaling, and security
• Lead integrations with external services: payment providers, KYC/EMI providers, etc
• Conduct code reviews, participate in design discussions, and enforce engineering best practices
• Support and mentor other engineers as a lead-by-example team player

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS Fargate or similar container orchestration platforms
• Familiarity with tools like GitLab CI/CD, Sentry, or similar observability stacks
• Experience with compliance-heavy environments (e.g., FinTech, RegTech)
• You've previously been a founding engineer, tech lead, or had product/infrastructure ownership
• 2+ years of informal or formal experience mentoring other developers (not a must)
