Summary

Key responsibilities include developing and managing design substantiation documents, leading design changes, presenting to safety committees, producing EIMT schedules, preparing safety reports, providing expert advice, conducting technical reviews, and applying specialist knowledge to integrate emerging technologies. The role requires experience in design assessment for reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, including dynamic loads, and the ability to produce technical justifications for design modifications in high-hazard industries. A strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge is essential. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in design assessment for reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, including dynamic loads (earthquakes, blasts, wind, rain, snow)
  • Proven ability to produce technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high-hazard industries
  • Skilled in applying theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and manage engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments
  • Strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge, utilizing both existing and emerging technologies

Responsibilities

  • Develop, assess, and manage Design Substantiation documents
  • Lead the development and control of design changes and concessions
  • Present design substantiations to safety committees
  • Produce and maintain EIMT schedules , procedures, and records to support the safety case
  • Prepare and review Periodic Review of Safety reports
  • Provide expert engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct Independent Technical and Peer Reviews (ITA/IPR)
  • Apply both general and specialist knowledge to integrate emerging technologies
  • Use practical and theoretical methods across all project phases in high-risk/nuclear environments
  • Deliver robust technical justifications for civil/structural design changes in safety-critical contexts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience a similar nuclear environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with safety case development techniques, such as HAZID/HAZOP studies
  • Civil/Structural Engineering degree
  • Incorporated engineer (or equivalent experience)
  • Chartered engineer (or equivalent experience)
